[ʎ] Palatal, lateral, voiced

Previous ◁ | ▷ Next

The tongue takes up the characteristic rounded shape of palatal articulations. The lingual contact occurs near the prepalatal zone and occasionally extends both forward (alveolar zone) and backward (palatal zone). The air flows out through one or two lateral channels that are not shown in the mid-sagittal image.
